Well i recently went to my local princess auto (a canadian store that sells stuff at good prices) and bought a set of Audio Research AR-301CXP 3-1/2" 2-way speakers and they are actually pretty good for $16 speakers. the first ones i bought were messed up and the bass sounded terrible so i exchanged them and the pair i have now are great! But they might not meet the standards of some audiophiles but they sound great with my ipod (I'm not sure how they would be with you audiophiles who don't like digital audio). they are only mid range speakers but there bass is alright for such a small speaker however i have noticed that when your listening to a song with a lot of bass, the treble becomes distorted so I'm wondering if the tweeter actually does anything, or just looks good. They also look pretty good. my summary : for $16 there pretty good, you could find better ones but if your like me and don't have $200 for a 3" speaker (or $200 for anything) they are a good choice. But good luck finding them unless you live in canada because the company is from canada and doesn't have a website, princess auto is only in canada and the only other place that i'm aware that they are sold at is in canada.
