My primary source video is from Chromecast and through HDMI connection using laptop.
If i connect these 2 devices to HDMI inputs of receiver yamaha RXA700 input will the sound come from home theater speakers.
I tried connecting the chromecast to receiver yamaha htr6230, but sound is not coming from the hometheater speakers but is passing sound to the projector.
If i buy a used RXA700 will the sound come from hometheater speakers without any additional connection? My projector is benq1075.
Or do i need to connect additional cables like analog or optical cables to get the sound from home theater speakers? Appreciate your inputs..Thanks.

The chromecast plugged into your receivers' hdmi ports should yield audio just fine. Could have been a handshake issue the first time around with the 6230 or perhaps settings....

Does the HDMI versions matter for the transmission of the sound?
I read same issue with other users having 6230. They ran a optical cable back or a rc audio cable from tv to get the audio to speakers. I am planning to buy a used rxa700 so want to know if i will end with the be same issue..Thanks...

There should be a setting in the Yamaha menu for HDMI to pass only video to the projector. I’ll be surprised if that’s not the problem.

Hard to know what the issues with the 6230 are, an optical cable instead of utilizing ARC is a good way to go to avoid HDMI CEC/ARC issues, tho. There are hdmi implementation issues among different brands as hdmi is somewhat a weak standard. Whether that model of Yamaha is any better/worse than the 6230 I have no idea. Maybe our local dealer @AcuDefTechGuy has some ideas for ya....
