Audio Issues Pioneer Elite A/V Receiver

I traded my Pioneer Elite VSX-80TXV A/V recevier for the Pioneer Elite VSX-81TXV A/V receiver, because I could not get HDMI audio from the former one. The new VSX-81 has a manufacturer date 12/2006.
When i hooked up all my systems (NEC PlasmaSync VP424A / PS3 / FTA Pansat 3500SD / MacBook Pro as Media Center /Bose AcusticMass 16 speakers systems), I can hear no audio from any of them, no matter what type of connection I use. Tried HDMI, Optical and composite, no luck.
Only audio I can get is from FM radio and iPod direct connection to the receiver. On the other hand, when I use MCACC, all speakers produce sound. Called Pioneer and they say I need to take the receiver for service.
Am I doing something wrong, or do I really have to go for service? Anyone with an idea on what the problem might be?

new in box

Was the 81 new in a box, or a floor display?

Return it now. Pioneer won't honor warranty on Elite models purchased at an unauthorized dealer.
I wish I had a better answer for you. It makes no sense that you only get sound with the MCACC turned on. I can turn mine off and on all day and I can still get outputs from the receiver.

I live outside the US. Can I still get it repaired, even if I have to pay for service?? Do you think I can find a solution for the problem?

I get audio from the iPod output and the tuner. No audio from HDMI, optical, or component. Also, when I use the MCACC function, I can hear audio. Could probably be an issue with the firmware upgrade??
