Audio Idiot-Sub-$1,000 Full System?

Hi all,

I'm quite a beginner when it comes to audio, yet I love it. I'm a musician and I can tell clear sounds and proper bass when time comes to.

I'm looking for a sub-$1,000 full system(speakers, receiver, subs, NO TV). I'm not sure where to go, or what brands are good. The room is open and I want a surround sound setup.

My TV is a Vizio Gallevia LCD, I think 46''?

I need long lasting, great sounding speakers, and a compatible receiver for the TV/Cable Box/XBox 360/etc.

Essentially, what is the BEST bang for your buck system under a grand right now?
