Audio hiss on playback

You can see my set up in my signature... Please help me understand this.
There is ZERO hiss on my system when I crank up the volume to full. No CD playback... However when I am playing a CD at about 12:00 volume I can hear hiss.. This of course is on a song... for example. Singer playing piano and singing only... Is this normal with good gear like mine? I thought I would hear zero hiss on playback..

Is this only because of the CD recording on playback?

Not all CDs have zero background noise, so yes - the hiss can be on the original recording. Have you tried a few different CDs?

Does anyone here have a recommendation for a CD that would be a good test?

Is there hiss with the CDP connected, the volume turned up, but no CD in it?

How is the player connected to the receiver, analog or digital.

If the original mastering and mixing was done on an analog tape machine, there's gonna be tape hiss on there. To expect silence on that would be like wondering why "The Honeymooners" doesn''t show up in color on your new HDTV.

And, contrary to pouplar belief, even DDD CD's are not noise free, and that's intentional. See this link on "dither".

No hiss with cd connected and not playing a cd. its connected with blue jeans rca.
If it does it with some CD's and not others then you are hearing actual data on the CD (data that is hiss).

That 670 sometimes hisses quite loudly between disc changes when the drawer is open, but it stops just before the music starts to play. Any idea as to what might cause this?
