Define "nice"
How much is "too much weight"
I have a positive suggestion. Gusdorf at Circuit City. CC only has one Gusdorf Audio model listed on the website. $150. Clean simple design. Basic Cable Management cutouts that are big enough for a fist full of cables. Height adjustable shelves (yes, for real, even though the info on the site doesnt say so). Good weight capacity from the smoked tempered glass shelves (handles Denon 2805, NAD amp etc). Sturdy, tubular metal "U" shaped sub frame that has enough binding screws and bolts to attach the visible wood frame to make sure it will remain sturdy. And the wood color is a good compliment for "Classic Cherry" veneer bookshelfs from Sauder, and more importantly, it is actual wood with a varnish finish rather than fiber board with veneer. Ok, it isn't great wood, but it was part of a tree at one point in its life.
I have the audio stand and matching TV stand. The TV stand is holding my 34" Widescreen Sony WEGA, all 194 lbs of CRT. The way I look at the product, if it is inexpensive and it can hold that big CRT, its got to be a great deal.
By the by, bought the audio stand and TV stand at the same time. $150 per item, total price $300. And then a $70 rebate kicked out from Gusdorf. $230 for two pretty impressive pieces of HT furniture.
If I hadn't bought the Gusdorf, I was seriously looking at the Sanus NF series. Big price swing, and the Sanus lacks height adjustable shelves.
