Audio from TV Apps (Netflix/Amazon Instant Video)

Hello,

I recently set up a home theater system with a Yamaha VX377 receiver, and 5 home theater speakers.

I get audio just fine from TV (cable TV box) and the DVD player, but I am unable to hear audio from the movies I play from the Netflix and Amazon Video Apps on my Panasonic ST50 TV.

Do I need to do any additional cabling for this, or perhaps is there an output setting on the TV that needs to be changed ?

Welcome to the forum!

I see that both the Yamaha and Panasonic support ARC (audio return channel). How do you have them connected - with just an HDMI cable? If so, make sure that you are using the "HDMI2 (ARC)" input on the TV. There's also likely a setting in the Yamaha, which I'd normally check for you, but I don't have time at the moment (sorry).

Some people report problems with ARC between certain TVs and receivers. I would still try ARC first. If that doesn't work, you can run an optical cable from your TV to the receiver. There shouldn't be any difference in sound quality but you may have to fiddle with the input setup on your receiver.
