My equipment:
HDTV - Samsung
DVR box from Comcast
Home Theater system

Everything is working just fine. However, when I mute the TV, the speakers are also muted. I should be able to mute the TV and have the sound still come out of my surround sound. I can not figure this one out, even after reading A LOT of articles on theis forum.
thanks you!

Do you have the cable box audio outputs connected to the TV and then an audio cable from the TV's audio out into the 'home theater system' (you didn't specify what that means)? That would do it as the TV is the source of the audio if you used that kind of hookup.

Thanks for your response, I will certainly give this a try once I get home from work.

Depends on how you have your system configured. When it leaves the cable box, where does your audio connection go? You should have a digital connection going directly to the receiver from the cable box if you are using your HT system for TV audio.

Thank you Nick, I didn't have a chance to look at the configuration. However, I will make a point of it this evening. I believe I have the digital connection going to TV as opposed to the receiver. I do know that I have the HDMI monster cable going from the HDTV to the cable box (thats obvious)

I appreciate your response.
