I wonder what aspect of classical music made it easier to discriminate between? I'm guessing dynamics. I wouldn't think the timbre would give classical the nod over jazz.

Obviously an electric guitar would be very difficult with the array of distortion and other effects available.

Classical is often recorded in a less intimate way than jazz, unless it's big band. That would make a difference in how each sounds and I could imagine how each could be affected by the higher sampling rate.
