Audio connections from DVD/B-r to receiver

I have ended my search for a Blu-Ray player and ordered a Panasonic BD80.
Granted I have not read the manual yet as it won't be delivered until Monday.
In the meantime I'd like to get some general thoughts on which is the best way to hook up the audio only outputs (when playing music CD's) to my Integra receiver. The player has 2ch analog RCA output jacks, optical and coaxial digital connections.
Thanks
E.

I would use either optical or coaxial 75 ohm SPDIF.

What is the exact make/model of the receiver?

Generally speaking, the best/easiest way of doing things is with the digital connection.

Preferably HDMI if available.

For CDs, optical or coaxial digital audio is as good as it gets.

For HD audio on Blu-ray/SACD/DVD-A, you must use either a HDMI connection which supports it (most do), or you must use 5.1/7.1 analog inputs. Two channel stereo RCA inputs on the receiver can support better audio from these formats as well, but you lose the surround mix. This ONLY applies to HD audio sources, not regular CDs.

BMXTRIX,
My receiver is an Integra DTR 8.2 (non HDMI) with 7.1 analog input jacks which will be connected to the "like" outputs on the Blu-ray.
It does have both optical and coax inputs. I read from yours and TLS Guy's replies that it would appear there is no noticable difference to the naked ear between the optical or coax connects. I already have a coax cable so I will try that first.
Thanks for the replies.

Yup. No reason to even bother with the optical.
