I have an avr-645 receiver and love it. My question is which sounds better to other HK owners With or without EQ. I kinda like it off. All responses appreciated.

EQ is a personal issue and a technical issue of EQing the room, or not.

Not sure what you mean, but I run DPL2 for Movies for TV watching unless it comes in DD.

If it sounds better leave it off. Applying EQ out of the LF range for room problems is not a good idea.

I don't know about the 645, but with the 635 when the eq is on it boosts both the bass and treble.
For my particular sealed subs, they need a bit of eq. But to compensate for the treble boost I set the "tilt" to about -4db, to bring the treble back down to where it would be if the eq off.

I think the Speaker Level and Type is good, but the EQ is a NO-NO.

I had the AVR247 for 3 months.
