Attaching subwoofer to bar?

Hey guys, new to the forum.

I dont know much about subwoofers or speakers in general, so bare with my ignorance.

I have a garage bar that I just built three speakers into. I also have two subs that I'm wanting to attach, but I'm not sure if I can with the way I want to do it.

I want to integrate the subs flush into the bar. I was thinking about taking the subs out of the boxes and mounting the speaker and cover into the front of it, but I'm thinking that it will mess with the sound. Or am I wrong?

Not sure of the construction, but sound like it would fall under the category of infinite baffle. Can you upload images to hosting site so you can post links. You have a 5 post minimum to post on the site. Also list what subs they are.

I'm not currently home to take a picture of how I mounted the current speakers on there, but I was able to find a picture of the bar itself when I had finished building it.

The red circles are where the front left, center, and front right speakers are. Those are RCA speakers that came with a cheapo home theater system from Walmart. One of the subs are from that same cheapo system the other sub is a Sony SS-WSB123 woofer I received from a friend.

I know this wouldn't be the perfect set up but it's only for the garage.

Also if it helps, I currently have 10 total speakers (subs included) hooked up. 2 fronts, 2 centers, 4 rear, and 2 subs.

with those subs it wont matter. but if it were me I'd leave them their boxes till you want to upgrade

I guess what I'm asking is if it will render the bass tones useless if I just sank the sub speakers themselves into the bar with a big old paddle bit and mounted the covers back on them.

If you have switched to a proper A/V receiver, then you aren't going to get any sound at all from the subwoofer. Subwoofer outputs on a proper receiver are not powered. The subwoofers you have look like they don't come with an internal amp. So, no sound without power.

A traditional subwoofer has an internal amplifier which you would connect to your A/V receiver, then take speaker wire to the subwoofer itself.

I am not sure if I would consider what you are doing at all as it will impact the sound of any subwoofer and should you end up with a more properly designed 10" or 12" subwoofer, it will end up shaking the entire bar some and care will be needed to ensure an infinite baffle is appropriate for the subwoofer in use.

I have a reciever in the opposing side of the bar. It's a cheap RCA one.

I have everything hooked up and surprisingly it sounds great.

What is an infinite baffle? Again, excuse my ignorance.

It is when you don't have a subwoofer in an enclosure and it is open on the back of the speaker completely.

If it is all hooked up and the woofers are playing, then the receiver is non-standard and is putting out power on the connections to the speakers. This won't allow an upgrade path if there is a point where you want it, and if the receiver portion breaks, you will need to find a new way to power those speakers.
