ATS Acoustics - great service

Figured I needed to post this. FYI - I am in Ontario

Ordered 6 24x48x2" acoustical panels from ATS Acoustics a week or so ago. When I got the box it was partly damaged with a note on it that the sender (ATS Acoustics) will be contacting the receiver (me) about the damage. From the looks of the rip in the box I could see no damage, but upon opening the box up I found one panel that had damage on the back of it. It look like something had pierced the wooden back panel about 3/4 of an inch deep by 4 inches long. Apparently Fed Ex hit it with a fork lift. Called ATS Acoustics and they have given me a full refund for the panel with no questions asked. I even get to keep the panel! I must say that I was very surprised that they were so willing to accomodate me in any manner. Great service and I would recommend them based on that to anyone.

That is great to hear!
So have you had a chance to put them up?
And if so how much of a differnce do they make?
I have been thinking of getting some for a while now so i am interested in hearing what you think.

Well I have 5 of the 6 up. Doing a simple "clap" (hands) test there is a lot less echo in my room. I also had a quick look at the eq settings before redoing my MCACC and there was a change. I also noticed that the MCACC set the speaker levels a lot closer to each other as well, now within .5 db of each other (I'm talking about the mains here). I have not actually watched to much video yet but the front soundstage sounds better (more defined). Still some tweaking to do but the high end also seams to be smoother with no use of my x-curve setting.

I ended up placing 2 of them horizontally on the front wall behind the mains, and 3 on the back wall - on centered, the outside 2 are in a direct line with the direction that the front mains are pointing.

FYI, I have no software or experienc with actuall placing of these.

The back wall is not a bad place. Especially if your close to it. I do suggest you put one at the 1st order reflections if you can, but if it already sounds great then don't worry about it.

Thx, I actully have 2 windows (basement) on the left side wall which I have hung floor to ceiling curtains on. This helps with the first order reflections. For the Right side, there are two sets of stairs, one up, one down that are open. I am thinking of at least putting a curtain blocking the entrance to the stairs going down. (FYI - I have a 4 level backsplit)

I am sitting 8 feet from my back wall. I may place one more panel on it, have not decided yet. Still need to decorate as well.

My room is L shaped.

Front - 14ft
Left - 22ft
Back - 22ft
Right (from Back wall forward) - 8ft

Right side from front has a small washroom (big bass trap), stairs going up, staris going down.
