Hello Audioholics everywhere,
I'm interested in upgrading my receiver so I can start enjoying the wonders of Dolby Atmos/DTS-X. I would like the receiver to support 7.2.4 without needing a 2ch amp if possible. Any recommendations would appreciated. Thanks everyone.

I would save the money and upgrade something that makes bigger improvements. But if you truly want to go that route giving budget would help and what is your current setup? Do you already have those needed speakers?

I don't know of an AVR w/ 11 channels of amplification. The top AVRs in both the Denon and Yamaha lines have only 9.

Tyhjaarpa... I already have 4 ceiling mounted speakers ready to go... I currently have an onkyo tx nr717 7.2 receiver. My budget for a new receiver is $2000.

Why?
You can get an amp that automatically comes on when you turn on your AVR.
The amp has no volume or other controls.
You still control everything from the AVR.
In daily use, you'll never even know the amp is there.

Is there a particular reason you want to avoid a separate amp?

No particular reason, l just wanted to keep the amount of equipment to a minimum... I'm new to the audio hobby so I could use any knowledge thrown my way
