I've emailed the company, but just wondering if anyone has a source.

Thanks!

Let me know how this turns out. I've got five Athena speakers from that series sitting all around me and was wondering what I would do should i ever need parts.

Athena (and all of API) have since been sold to klipsch and I've wondered if they will support products prior to their acquisition, particularly since they couldn't wait to deep 6 the Athena brand. Strange for a great selling and reviewed series.

Will do...

I had a pair of AS-F1.2's for quite a while on my main audio only system. For the money (purchased at Audio Advisor on clearance) they were quite incredible.

I bought The AS-F2's with 4 AS-B1's and and AS-C1 center.....I've swapped the tweeter from the center and while the magnet structure looks slightly different, I did some critical listening last night and I'd be suprised if it isn't the same tweeter otherwise. Possibly it's a slightly different design for the "shielding" purposes need for the center.

The AS-F2 also had a broken binding post, so I guess I'll strip that off the center as well until I can find a replacement (Radio Shack here in town had nothing similar)

I was on the phone trying to call Athena this morning (no answer - message saying "this number is not set up yet") when I got an email from Sean Ryan at Simply Speakers - they have the tweeters for the AS series (which are apparently all the same) for 37.02 and the binding posts for 3.98 each.

Very helpful and pleasant transaction over the phone.

That seems kind of expensive for those tweeters. I had a pair of AS-B1s and thought they were good speakers for the price.

well, it seems it's a supply and demand thing....I spent a solid hour searching the net last night and didn't see any other mention of them. Athena isn't answering their phone (and no email reply) It comes down to "do you want them or not?" I guess....

Polk wanted 89.00 for a replacement of a single tweeter for an RT35i a little while ago, so I don't see it as that bad.

$37 isn't bad, but it isn't great either, but yes, I realize it is also because they have inventory and those are likely not made anymore since the Athena line was cut. Athena was discontinued under API IIRC, before Klipsch even bought them.

LOL $89 for a PolkRT tweeter? I would have laughed at the guy and told him I wouldn't buy the whole speaker for $89.

If you knew the type of tweeter it actually is you could probably find it's real replacement. Most manufacturers use drivers sourced from other companies.

That said a good tweeter costs pretty close to 37.

Sourced from another company when the company buying them was around maybe. Second sources don't usually keep inventory after 5-7 years after the manufacturer stops making the speakers that use them. I've never seen a tweeter with that configuration or that synthetic material (Teteron) and was likely only made for them.

**I did a little checking around and it looks like a few manufacturers are still using Teteron for car audio and outdoor speakers because it is water and temperature resistant.

I got my GR T3s for $24 :) They are now $29.
