If you want the 2.2's buy the 2.2's...no regrets.

You gonna use a subwoofer?

If so, then the 1.2's should be more than sufficient. They are for me.

I had the entire Audition Series....

And I prefered the F-1 over the F-2, in fact I sold the F-2's but keep the F-1's.

The F-2's just overpowered my listening room and were a little to large.

Floorstander options

Read the review of the Onix X-LS speakers by AH. AV123.com will have the floorstander version available soon for $300/pair and a dual mid and powered woofer version further off for $600/pair. They come in real wood veneer and will look and sound better than the Athena's.

The Athena's are a great entry level option and I started out with one of their bookshelf systems.

Very true. I live in Toronto as well, and purchased my Athenas close to a year and a half ago from 2001 Audio/Video. My AS-F2s were $600/pair, B2s were $200/pair, C1s were $260 each, and the P400 sub was $380, all in Canadian dollars. Ridiculous, eh? I can't believe how much the prices dropped in that short space of time!

Having said that, I'm extremely happy with the sound of both movies and music in my living room.

Frankly, I'm not sure why I bought the F2s over the F1s. Their specs reveal them to be very similar, except the F2 can reach down just a little bit more. But since I cross over to the sub at 80 Hz, I wonder why I bothered to spend more money on the F2s. Oh well. I really like the sound. Some people find Athena to sound too harsh, but I have zero problems in that area. I love my babies!

cheers,
supervij
