Just bought on sale for $299 the The Athena AS-P4000 Subwoofer Powered Floor Speaker is a high powered 10" down firing subwoofer design that will provide deep articulate bass response down to 23Hz. it's a 400 watt amplifier and I love it.

Did you check that with test tones? I reviewed the older version (AS-P400) and found that it was not about to hit 23Hz.

Where did you buy yours, I got the same thing 10 days ago at future shop for 199.99. I too am impressed with it's performance.

I too got mine at future shop for $199. I luckily printed out the online price and from the end of March and took it to them and told them I wasn't going to pay anything more than that. The first store said they wouldn't honour it but the second one did.

Anyway, just wondering about one thing. I have the Athena WS100's so I set the low filter pass control knob on the sub to correspond with the front speakers which is 70hz.

My question is - is this the crossover "knob"? When I did the MPAC setup on my pioneer it set the xover at 100. Are the two related? Should I be going with what Athena recommends and change the xover to 70 on my pioneer or just leave it at 100. I keep reading the the ideal xover seems to be 80.

I know much is in the ear of the beholder but would just like to start with the correct setup first and then adjust accordingly if required.
