Has anyone heard of these loudspeakers? I got em as a gift and I'm just wondering how they compare. If they suck. Any opinions?

Thanks,

Okay, judging by the amount of views it would seem no one else has heard of them either :) I'm using these as my mains at the moment and the only stats I have on them were on the box. I know very little about speakers so if I could get a rating .. say 'garbage' or 'fair' 'decent' etc :> Tho I assume its a matter of opinion and I'm quite happy with them so far. But then again I do live in an apartment and the wife won't let me let em loose :(

250 Watts RMS Per Channel
Sensitivity 1 Watt per meter at 96 dbs
Electronic Overload Protection
Digital DVD Ready
Gold Plated Binding Posts
Professional carpet enclosure
Wide Dispersion Horn Tweeter
Ferrofluid Cooled Midrange
Studio Sound Balanced Crossover
12" high compliance
Low Frequency Driver
Dual Base Ports

That's all the info I have. I dont even know the Ohms on these suckers. Anywho, any and all opinions welcome. Like I said, they were gifts and I had never heard of em before. So if they're garbage ya won't hurt my feelings none :>

White Van Scam Speakers

Googled the speakers and they're listed as a White Van Scam speaker.

They come from a company out of Toronto, Ontario called "Advanced Sound Technologies". The company was putting out high end speakers that were bought mostly in clubs or by DJ's. The speakers were sold directly from the company only. I'm not sure what they were going for new, but they were expensive.
Be aware there are knock offs, of this speaker, out there - if someone is offeering you a brand new pair of these I would be suspicious, since this company is no longer in business

Hello,

I own a pair of AST X2-1500 .

How can I check to see if my set are White van knockoffs or
real Advanced Sound Technology speakers?.

AST X2-1500's valid???

How long ago did you get them? A certificate of authenticity may be the way. The most important indicator though is, how do they sound? If you run them through a decent receiver, and they sound awesome, then they're likely real. If they were still around I'd say check out a showroom, but like the previous post, I don't think they are in TO any longer.
