Not being a real reciever guru I thought I'd ask here for a friend who asked me. He doesn't have a computer. Any idea what is the lowest priced 5.1 reciever that has pre-amp outs and HDMI/DVI outs?

I believe that award goes to the Outlaw Model 1070.

Yep, that's the one, at $900 + shipping. Please note that the Outlaw only does DVI Switching. It does not output any kind of OSD over DVI. The next one up in price is the Yamaha RX-V1600 or HTR-5990 at $1099.99 MSRP. These have HDMI inputs, so they do not just operate as switching devices.

One important thing to remember is that one can get greater discounts on the Yamaha receivers than on the Outlaw, so they can be less expensive to actually buy.

The Pioneer Elite VSX-72TX can also be found just under $1k. Does HDMI switching and has 7.1 pre-outs. I looked around and found some as low as $800 online. Probably not autorized dealers but you never know until you check with them.
