Good day to everyone! Would like to ask people whether it would be possible for people who have heard both the Arx A1b and Swans M200 MKIII to compare the two. It would be interesting to see whether an active speaker (the Swans) can compare to the passive speaker (Arx).

My audio preferences lean towards folk, acoustic, alternative-type music, with a preference for male voices and guitar music.

Hope to hear from a variety of people. Thanks!

Well I think I answered this on AVS for you too but i'll post here too.

It depends more on how you are using them. The Swan is a near field "studio monitor" or desktop speaker and the Arx is a speaker designed for living room use and to be away from the walls sitting on stands. If you goal is using them in a living room or family room the Arx would be the way to go (and they sound great). If your goal is desktop or more personal use like near field or maybe a very small bedroom/office than the Swans would be the better option.

The Arx needs about 6-12" away from boundrys, with the Swans is designed to be near walls/desktop to reinforce its sound.
