"I have to applaud the designers to not try and use "digital processing" as a gimmick to sell this unit, and in the process introduce a set of A/D and D/A conversions that can only pollute the source signal. While this sub does employ "digital processing" to perform the SOS calibration, the digital portion of the circuitry is turned off after calibration so as to not interfere with the analog signal. Brilliant!"
Good God Almighty, what is this person doing writing a review on audio equipment? Why?
The very best loudspeakers these days all use digital filters to achieve frequency response curves flatter that what was previously achievable. Look at Genelec for example, or those new NHT home theater speakers that look so lovely, or the better Velodyne subwoofers. The simple and honest truth is that Arvind doesn't have a clue what he is talking about. Why is he writing reviews of audio equipment? Is this a joke or what? Is it April 1st already?
Note, btw, that since you cannot control the width or "Q" of the filter, this should be referred to as a "semi-parametric" equalizer.
