Artison RCC300 vs Triad Slimsub

Lookin for pros and cons of each.

I am looking at running the following in-wall system: 3 Triad Bronze/4 LCRs and 2 Triad Bronze/4 Surrounds. I have it narrowed down to two different subs: Artison RCC 300 or Triad Slimsub/4. I plan on putting in two subs with a single amp driving both of them. I would be using the in-wall enclosure, so the subs are both enclosed systems.

I have no dealers inside of a 2 hour drive, so I am trying to get some good opinions on thoughts from other users out there. Here is what I currently have:

Artison Pros:
* Better overall range than Triad
* Unique design for vibration cancellation
* Cost

Triad Pros:
* Matches existing system, so aesthetics would look better
* Tonal qualities probably better overall with Triad LCR and Triad Surrounds

Any other thoughts out there to help resolve my dilemma?

I haven't heard Artison but one of my suppliers sells them and I'm interested because they use SEAS drivers and because the designer has some experience in the speaker industry. You may have heard of his old company- Infinity. He was one of the founders.

As far as aesthetics, any speaker with a grill looks like almost any other, so that's kind of a moot point. With the grills off, I don't think the Triad look particularly impressive- they're Peerless/Vifa drivers in a black particle board box. Not MDF, particle board (unless they changed that in the last three years).

From Triad

The SlimSub was designed to fit into a 4" deep wall with a flush grill. The grill can be painted any color you want, to match your walls, with the submission of a paint sample or paint number to your authorized Triad dealer. All grills do not look the same. We think our Acoustimesh grills look very good, and the free custom paint makes a difference. BTW, we build and paint everything to order, and we don't ship out of inventory because we build this stuff in the United States. We're one of the last speaker companies to do this.

Your statement that our enclosure is particleboard is incorrect. Triad has ALWAYS made it's enclosures from premium MDF. You must be thinking of almost everybody else. :p As far as box-build quality, I'll put us up against anyone.

The SlimSub is not a killer sub, due to the shallow driver, but two work nicely. Getting bass out of a 4"-deep wall is hard, and no one has been able to get knock-you-down bass in that form, unless the enclosure protrudes from the wall. The SlimSub is 8 ohms, and it was designed so you can use two on one RackAmp with good results.

I like Artison, and we are friendly with them. Good products.

Tom and Gene are welcome to have product lent for review. Just contact me and I can set it up. Since Audioholics reviewed our Gold MiniMonitors and Gold PowerSub years ago, we have plenty of new and improved products, none of which are made out of freaking PARTICLEBOARD.

And you should be impressed that I remembered my user name and password, even after six years. The "name" part was a rough one...

And, apparently, I haven't posted enough to edit a signature to let anyone know who I am. I've been the Director of Sales & Marketing for Triad since 1996, and before that, I was a Director of Sales at Harman. I last saw Gene at our demo at CEDIA last September, where he had just lost his wallet. If you've ever lost your wallet, you know what a downer that is.

Paul yes and your advice was golden when I suffered that temporary crisis. Someone luckily turned it in with all money and credit cards just as you predicted. I wish I knew who it was so I could have bought them dinner or something.

I upped your post count so you can add your signature and links.
