Are Bookshelf Speakers Made to go in Bookshelves?

I was planning on mounting them high on the side walls in line with the couch, but I read another thread that warned against that.

Would ceiling speakers firing down on either side of the couch work best in this situation?

In this configuration, I would suggest looking toward bipole surrounds for maximum dispersion in the surround sound field. My opinion is that bipoles would be a better solution that ceiling mounts.

Would you not recommend the 4 or 5's for use in a bookshelf? They fit size wise (the 5's would be snug on the sides) in the the shelves we have picked out.

I own the 4s, and while they are not in a bookshelf, I have had several conversations with David Soloman at ERA about this. He recommends the 4's if you need to go in a bookshelf, as the 5s are too bass heavy and sound boomy in a bookshelf. Give them a listen if you can. I really like mine.

I was pretty sure that cabinet placement for the D5 would not be a good choice, but wasn't really sure what the effect might be with the D4. Thanks for that confirmation.
