I am just looking for a few ideas.I am trying to put together my 1st home theater system for my apartment. I have the 60" Sony Sxrd.I have been looking into buying some Arcam gear. Is the AVR 350 out yet? How about the DV137? Should I save some cash and just buy the AVR 300? How about speakers? My living room is about 18.5X13 with 8 foot ceilings. The system will mostly be used for watching dvd's,some videogaming, and occasional listening to cd's.

What's your budget?

Your "how about speakers" question leads me to believe you haven't purchased any yet. If that's the case, that's probably where you want to start as you'll want to spend the lion's share of your budget on them. Unless your budget is really big, you're gonna spend a lot on Arcam stuff. Nice stuff, but it comes at a price. You could get performance that's on par with it for significantly less.

Arcam AVR300 with Dynaudio Audience Speakers

Hello,

Sorry to insert my questions into your thread since my inquiry also relates to Arcam AVR300. Does anyone know if this receiver can drive Dynaudio Audience 42 (4 ohms)?

Please advise and thanks in advance.

According to the specifications, it can drive 4 ohm speakers.

"continuous power output (4 or 8Ω)
any 2 channels driven 120w (20hz – 20khz @ 0.2% thd)
all 7 channels driven 100w (1khz @ 0.2% thd)
thd at 80% rated power output 0.02% (at 1khz)"

The AVR300 is highly rated by every British reviews available online or on the magazine stands that I know of, but those same audio/video magazines also rated lower price models such as Denon and Yamaha just as good.

Hi Peng,

Thanks. That's all I need to know, so I can go and buy it to drive my Dynaudio Audience system.
