Hey guys I just purchased an AppleTV to replace my Hauppauge Media MVP I've been running for the past three years. I use it mainly for audio and photos and it's light years ahead of the MVP. What I can't figure out is what format the digital output is for my ATV. I'm listening to MP3 and AAC files through the digital connection and they play fine through my 3805. Logic would be that the digital connection is passing along whatever the file format is to my receiver. But the Denon doesn't decode MP3's that I know of and for sure doesn't decode AAC files. I have both the optical and analog connections from the ATV to the receiver. The analog cables enable multiroom distribution and I have the digital input selected on the receiver. The receiver shows a digital input as PCM. Can someone explain to me what is going on here? It works fine but I didn't expect the digital output to work with those file formats. But I'm happy that I can use the excellent DAC's in the Denon.
