Aperion vs. Axiom vs ???

As you may have noticed in my topics in other sections, I'm looking at putting together a system shortly. I'm not entirely sure but I think for now I'd like to stick 5.1, but definitely move to 7.1 in the future.

Right now I'm deciding between these two systems:
From Axiom:
M50 towers
VP150 center
QS4 surrounds

Aperion:
533-T Towers
533-VAC centre
534-SS Di/Bipole surrounds


With either set I would probably pair them with an HSU STF-2.

Pros? Cons? Recommendations?

Axiom M50s all the way. I think they will both sound good, but the Axioms will sound fuller/more bass. They are a lot closer to being full range (35Hz-20kHz +/- 10dB) than the 533-T (50Hz-20kHz +/-10dB).

Yeah around there. If possible I would like to have bigger/more drivers. Not at the total cost of quality, but I am a believer that there is no replacement for displacement.

Edit2: If I could get it from a company that ships form inside Canada that would be a HUGE plus, once again however, not willing to compromise too much quality for that.

they are the ONLY ID company to back up their products with a no cost to you offer, but then again it may not apply us to Canadians. The axioms are priced slightly better in Canada then in the States. If you go with the Axioms you'll not have the burden of the added fees and inccured cost, when ordering from abroad. JMO with a $1500.00 budget you could do well for yourself buying locally and use that extra money towards your speakers instead of handing it over to some courier company.

Paradigm? Energy? PSB? SVS? Aren't these Canadian companies? If I could get all my speakers and a sub from Canada it would save huge on shipping/duties.

To my knowledge only SVS and Axiom have retailer outlets in Canada and therefore duty & brokerage fees will not apply. I'm looking for... something awesome. But the issue has been resolved. Given that the AV123's are made in the states, I do not pay duty on them. Thus, there is no reason they should not be considered. I'm probably going to go with them.

Thanks for the heads up! I have never had the good fortune of avoiding extra charges when ordering products Stateside. I am sure you'll enjoy your new speakers. I have a question for you? There was talk about AV123 opening shop in Canada, was this the case?

I just ordered a pair of DefTech BP10B for $700 (retail $1,000) from a local DefTech dealer (price match). Send me a Private Message if you are interested where & how I got that price.

For this price, I don't think there is anything out there that is better.

Well I just ventured over to the av123 forum. Yes, there are ways around duty and brokerage fees, but you'll have to do some running around. Good luck and post some pic's when everything is set up.

There's a guy that runs this parcel service out of his home right south of the border. I'll just have them shipped there and bring the stuff over the border myself. You don't have to find a loophole around duties, as long as it's made in the USA it's duty free. brokerage fees you won't have to pay either because you're bringing it over yourself.

SVS isn't Canadian. You should be able to audition the rest of those locally. Did you do any research at all when you picked out those systems or were those the hot items for the week?

I believe the products(av123) in question here are not made Stateside? If I am not mistaken the thread I referenced dealt with B stock which was return and later shipped out as USA country of origin? Acting as your own broker can be beneficial and I hope it all works out for you. I just can't see it as being that easy?
