Hi

I'm interested in which speaker would win a head to head comparison. Thanks for for your input.

Av123 reference 1 monitors and the Intimus 5B

Here is another great review for Aperion and this happens to be of the 5b. Just posted the other day.

Aperion also has a no risk trial period (paid shipping both ways), an insane warranty/upgrade policy and highly regarded customer service amongst its customers. They are the ones to audition.

With the recent issues of AV123 and their CEO there is no way I would recommend them to anyone.

I just read up on axioms too. The money's right on them, My current set up is a pair of av123 ref 1 monitors as fronts, an older klipsch ksc-c1 as center and two pairs ( stacked } orb audio's. It sounds good but I think it's all over the board as far as matching. I'm just trying to move in that direction ( matching ). Thanks.

Here is a recent comparison of the B5 to the Axiom M2. The reviewer focuses in on what Axiom does best: a clean neutral presentation of music.

I'm with MinusTheBear on AV123. They make some good speakers, but the company is a mess right now. If your transaction goes well and the speakers are everything you wanted, you're golden. If not, you could be in for a lot of pain. If you order from them, make sure its something they have in stock. DO NOT pre-order!!

Yes thank you. I've read all the flack about av123. I did call them and was told that their ELT525C center has similar drivers to their Ref 1 series. The Ref 100 center is what I should have to match, but they're aren't any available. I was thinking about buying their ELT525M's for the rear. I'm pretty certain they have the 525's in stock. I'm thinking this would be the least expensive and easiest way to get all 5 speakers to be from one manufacturer and thus creating the best "match" without starting all over again.

I asked about the other manufacturers in the event that I do start over again which might not be out of the realm. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chris.

Have you considered Usher 520's? Wonderful speakers at the same price point as the Aperion 5B. Both fine speakers.

I'm glad you asked. I've heard good things about Usher. I'll have a look. Thanks.

MinusTheBear is right on with his points on AV123, buy confirmed in-stock only.

As for Aperion vs. Axiom
I'm a big fan of Aperion from top to bottom, outrageous customer service, and flat out terrific people to deal with. I'm not a fan of Axiom due to some personal experience, but in fairness my issues were very much in the minority.

Sound-wise, the Aperion sound is far more European, much more even across the frequencies and they prefer a robust amplifier section that can deliver the high current on demand. IMHO, their best speakers are the 4T, 6B, and 6T. I'm not a fan of the 5B unless it is paired with a sub.

give the aperions a free trial and if they meet your fancy then you'll know for sure.

No point in not taking the chance.
