APC H15 and SAT coaxial?

I recently got an APC H15 at the closeout price. I really like the unit and have all my AV equipment plugged into it but I do have a problem and wondered if anyone has experienced the same.

I have the DirecTV HR20 HD-DVR unit which requires two coaxial cables from the dish. I can get one of the signals through the H15 using the SAT/ANT jacks but the other set (CATV/MODEM) will not pass the signal. APC sent me a replacement thinking I had a defective unit but the replacement does the same thing. Anyone here using both coaxial jacks on the H15 with DirecTV sat? :(

I'm guessing that you have, but on the CATV input that has the splitter, have you tried both of the outputs?

From everything that I've read and heard, Directv signals are higher frequency than cable and antenna signals. The Directv-approved splitters that I've seen generally go up to the low 2GHz in frequency. The H15 specs list those coax inputs/outputs as 5MHz to 1GHz. My guess is that is sufficient for pass-through (as it's working fine on the set that isn't split) but isn't a high enough frequency to work when the line is split. If the splitter has one line that is a power pass (which I'm still a bit unclear on), that line might might work better than the other.

I tried it on the original unit and it didn't matter but I've not tried it on the replacement. I'll try that tomorrow.

You can't. Direct TV signals can not go through any type of transformer, as the multiswitch and LLB are DC phantom powered from the HR 20. Also the HR 20 has to send control signals up the line. Satellite signals have very little in common with cable systems which you other jack is for.

I would connect both lines from the receiver dish directly to the HR 20

I thought it might be something like that but wasn't sure. I'll run the coax as you suggested. Thanks.
