Hi Guys,

I recently posted here and i purchased the following products:

Yamaha V-863 AVR
Yamaha NS-777 Fronts
Yamaha NS-444 Rears
Paradigm Titan Monitors x2 (Ordered)
HSU VTF-3 MK3 Sub

So basically situation is, i was trying to build my dream HT room in my current home, but work have decided to re-locate me to another office in Sydney, so it looks like im settling with an apartment :( Getting more $$ of course.

Has anyone had any annoying experiences with neighbours living in apartments? This unit is new and looks sound proof-ish but i dont know.. I want to enjoy my movies though!

Oh, yeah. :) I think a better question would be - had anyone not had any annoying experiences...

There's been other threads on this in the past, with some good advice. If you can, make friends with your neighbors, or at least be on speaking terms with them. I think that people are willing to forgive more intrusions when they know that they have control over it. In other words, if the apartment turns out to be not-so-soundproof, let your neighbors know that they can always just ask you to turn it down (and then, of course, do it). I think that they'll let you go further that way. Of course, if your neighbors are total dillweeds, then this advice goes out the window... :D

Hi Adam, yeah i tried to search the threads for "apartment" but to no avail.

I know what you mean.. its very hard to guage how your new neighbours would feel.. im just so used to suburbian life, just moving into the big city even with a flashy apartments gets my blood boiling with enjoying movies..

I will certainly take your advice onboard, and just hope my neighbours are not the senior citizen category (no offense!) end result their neighbours let them blast an action movie? lol

And mazersteven, i do love headphones ( i own some Audio T's) but there is just something about proper surround sound i like, plus my missus doesnt appreciate when i cant hear her 'demands':mad::rolleyes:

This article has an interesting solution. Basically he recommends placing the sub as near-field as possible in order to reduce the absolute output the most. I've been in an apartment about 3 weeks, tried this with my bedroom setup and haven't had any complaints, even at 4 am after getting back from the bars.
