AOC e2243fw to xbox 360

My monitor has VGA and DVI-d ports only so I bought dvi-d to hdmi adapter
but am not getting any picture,the monitor displays no signal found.For audio I can use optical cable to my Klipsch GMX 5.1 so I'm not concerned about that just picture,any ideas?

make sure that xbox adapter has a little switch - TV/HDMI switched to hdmi

I have the newer slim/black 360 and it has no such switch,I'll try in the
video settings in the dashboard when I reconnect everything.
spring cleaning.

I think since it isn't HDMI to HDMI there is no "handshake" and you'll have to do it manually through the dashboard. Once you manually change it, try to plug it in.
