Is there anyone here that have the Yamaha AX-396 or AX-496

can u please comment on it's sound??

also guys what do u think gonna be better

1-Yamaha RXV-1500
2-Yamaha RXV-650(for center&rear) with AX-396 for stereo & front speaker powering dutes??

i have the RXV-650 and am thinking of getting the AX-396 or 496 to use it for stereo with my fronts using the preouts of the 650,
Do u think any of those 2 stereo amps gonna sound better than the 650 in stereo quality (coz the 650 is already very good in pure direct)??

anyhelp would be appreciated.

The AX-396 and 496 are very good integrated amps from Yamaha but in your case you will see no difference in sound from your previous setup, the final sound depends on your speakers and both your RXV-650 as well as AX-396/496 share the same sonic character.

ohh i see, that's also what i was thinking,so i think this upgrade will have no meaning & give me the same sound at the end of the day.

anyway thank very much for the advice.

The AX-3xx and AX-4xx are entry and (at most) mid-level series. I found their sound to be flat and sterile (listening to an AX-470). If you like the Yamaha sound and want quality stereo you should go for at least an AX-5xx series amp. Or you could buy a better one second hand. I've seen on their site that Yamaha has stopped producing the higher series stereo amps (like the AX-8xx or AX-10xx).
Their better amps sound good with electronic music in general and rock, however not so much with classical or vocal.
