Anyone try DSP in a properly treated room

My Yamaha receiver has DSP modes which they claim are based on real acoustics of different venues. I've tried them out but I know I have slap echo from the rear wall. Has anyone tried them out in a properly treated room? What is the verdict - valid or gimmick?

Oh, With the DSP I am also referring to use of Yamaha's front presence channels (2).

I've tried them. For the most part I don't care for them. Too echoey. I don't think it his much to do with proper acoutics.

I basically have a very large great room so there are no side, ceiling or floor reflections to worry about. I do however sit close to the untreated back wall and I thought that might be a cause of excess echo mucking up the sound field. I was looking for someone who may have a little better setup for presence channels with DSP. I actually like a couple of DSP modes as it is.
