Found the Avid 230 on my local Craiglist for $50 -- the woofers had recently been refoamed. They were made in 1978 -- They are acoustic suspension with a 10 inch woofer. Surprisingly, they sound really nice with no bloated bass - and no harsh midrange or treble. Mercy, the speakers are heavy. They sure are better than some of these popular name brand speakers going around today. Sometimes the old school is still better. I have not checked the crossover network yet.
