Anyone have the Denon 2805 yet?

I have one coming Tuesday or Wednesday and was wondering if anyone else has received theirs yet and what they thought about it.

Just picked it up yesterday, and so far the sound is incredible. I have a yamaha (mind you it is a few steps down on the 2805) but the sound even at lower levels is a lot more full. Although, I was told it will sound better after it's break in period (approx. 10 hrs.). Anyway I still have a lot of getting used to their manual and the reciever. But right now I'm really enjoying the unit.

Getting mine soon... Any pro-reviews on the 2805?

Monday, August 9 :) unless I perish from the face of the earth. Say, anyone know what the actual measured power output is for this puppy? I can't find ANY reviews for the 2805.

Thanks,

If I remeber correctly, the actual power output is around 60-65 watts per channel all channels driven. A freind at a local a/v store did the math for me. And going by what the review on the 3805 on this forum say it sounded about right to me.

By the way I have had this reciever for just over a month and I'm sure you'll love it. Sounds great!!!!!!!!

What about Yamaha 1400 or 2400?
Compared with the 2805 (musically speaking), is the yam better or worse?
I'm in doubt about buying one of these two receivers. Is it worth to give 250EUR more for the Denon?

I tested the 2805 against both the 1400 and 2400 using my speaker setup a a local shop. For movies, I thought the sound was about equal from the 2805 and the 2400, both were better than the 1400. For music I liked the sound better from the 2805. It seemed to me that the 2805 had a fuller sound. I have had the 2805 now for almost 2 months and have been extremely happy with it.

I tested it with the Yammie (1400) and Pioneer Elite (vsx53) with the same speaker setup and the Denon 2805 was my favorite!!!! :D Much smoother sounding to me in music, but for movies, toss a coin and you'll be happy with any of these recievers.

Thanks, all of you for the feedback :) I'm really looking forward to playing with the receiver! Only thing is, I've collected my speakers over time and I'm not so sure they are a good match for the receiver; what do you think?

Fronts: 2x Titan V3
Center: 1x CC170
Surrounds: 2x Atom V3
Rears: 2x Atom V3
Sub: 1x Velodyne CHT-10

I'm thinking I'll upgrade the fronts to set of floor standing speakers and place on "B" inputs. Any suggestions on a budget of $600? I will eventually add a 3x outboard amp for my fronts/center (not in the budget now).

Thanks,

spearsd

If you like the sound of the Paradigms you own now, you'll love Paradigm monitor 7's, which is in your price range. This setup sounds real sweet, (Denon 2805 & Monitor series), but once again you gotta go listen to what sounds best to you! :D

BigFish,

Thanks! I was just looking at those yesterday. I'll try to find a local shop that has them. :)

My 2805 should arrive this afternoon, and if all is in order, I'll be placing my 1803 (excellent condition) on E-Bay in the next couple days under the user name, dspears1 (comes with original box, all original paperwork, manual, remote).

3805 or 2805

Can anyone consider between 3805 and 2805? I was wondering between the two of them, but I don't know if it's worth the extra 300 Eur of the 3805.
Also, I would like to know an experts advice: Can I put 3805 and KEF's eggs together, without damaging the speakers? The Denon has an output power of 120W and the speaker max power is 100W. I was considering to put the KEF's 5 speakers as surround, and having another 2 standmounts (>100W) as front ones. What do you think of that?

Denon with B&W loudspeakers?

Anyone have experience with denon amps and B&W speakers? I have the B&W DM602s3. Because of move to the US I will be forced to buy new audio electronics. Och well, worse things can happen... ;-)

My current amp is a very old Pioneer one (as I did not want to invest in something I could not have for a while). So, what amp to choose with these speakers? I've listened to the Denon 2803, and now the 2805 is out that would be the logical step to make... anyone?

Thanks!

Frank
