Anyone compare B&W DM602 S3's with Focal JMlab Chorus 707 S's?

Or separately?

What was your conclusion?

I auditioned both when shopping for speakers about a year ago. As I recall, both sounded very nice. The B&W's seemed to have a little more bottom end and sounded a little fuller. The JMLab's were a little lighter on the bottom but with excellent mids and very detailed highs. Had I chosen between them, I probably would've gone with the JMLabs. I ended up with Paradigm Studio 20's which, to my ears, combined the best qualities of each of the two you're looking at.

That said, I will tell you that I did not audition any of the above mentioned speakers at the same time or in the same store. Given that the listening environment greatly affects what one hears, it's quite possible that my perceptions of these speakers is not as fair, equitable and accurate as had I auditioned them in my home at the same time.

Thanks for the information.

I listened to the Studio 20's the day after I listened to the PSB Image B25's, and to be quite honest, I don't think the Studio 20's separated themselves enough from the PSB's to warrant the extra few hundred dollars.

Then I was able to listen to the Studio 20's side-by-side with the B&W DM602 S3's and I enjoyed the B&W's quite a bit more - they just seemed to pack more of a punch. Some might find the treble a little too bright but I liked the way they sounded, and to me they sounded more "realistic and believable" the way they were.

I heard the Focal JMlab 706's the same night that I heard the PSB's and I found them to image considerably better than the PSB's, but they sounded way more laid back, restrained and polite?

I am wondering if I could find the best of both worlds in the slightly larger Chorus 707's.
