Anybody seen this before?

eh.. probably just plays a varying range of pink noise to all the speakers to let you break them in. Maybe not necessarily gimmicky, but it is a bit duplicidious. I got some sine waves you can have for free.. :)

About Burn-in

I copied the quote from the website

Virtually all components benefit from electro-mechanical burn-in. Using a dedicated disc for this purpose provides maximum uniform burn-in for all of your components, as well as interconnect and loudspeaker cables.
The fact that they mention cables has me wondering....IMHO, this is snake oil (cold-pressed maybe?). Conditioning cables? how can something be added or improved after manufacturing?

I have heard the term "Burn-in" used mostly in conjuction with new loudspeakers since they are an electro-mechanical device manufactured to "tolerances" and depending on materials used would be subject to some "stiffness" much like brakes on a new car but even then I am a little weary of those claims....

Can someone with loudspeaker design & manufacturing experience please respond, I am very curious to hear about their opinions on "Burn-in".

oh wow... the speaker cable thing just totally skipped over me. Yeah... cable's a cable's a cable, no such thing as breaking in a cable to my knowledge. Speakers yes. Just like you said.. there's a stiffness to them at first. Lot of people when they get new speakers put in a cd and just let the stereo play for hours on end at varying volumes... or you can just take your time and let it do it while you listen to media.

I'm most curious about how they plan to "burn in" my components.

They are counting on ones imagination to engage :D

No, this whole issue is a snake oil claim, period. Even for speakers. A speaker will be fine after the first few strokes even though at shut down it will return and start again the next use.
Consumer audio is full of voodoo, mythology, bs and hype. ;)

This is my area of expertise, beware you are almost violating my undisclosed copywrite. Besides, I would use raw broccoli and Cauliflower and garlic. Worls quicker, louder, and will make the tidybowl man abandon ship in a heart beat.
