As much as I'd like to deny it, the Dr Pepper is vaguely familiar.

I remember the Mt Dew bottles. My friend had a big collection the sign next to the pig (Made from...whatever) was different all the time.

I also remember the Squirt and Dr Pepper labels and the Pepsi Cola cursive writing but a different label.

Whats nuts is that my oldest son & myself drank a pop each last year,he drank a Mountian Dew & I had a Soda Pop Shoppe black cherry & they still tasted good.

Pop must be like twinkee's with a 100 yr shelf life.

I used to drink DP and MD out of those type bottles when I was a kid. The others were before my time. I used to love the MD commercials. "YAHOOOO! IT'S MOUNTAIN DEW!" As the top goes through his hat brim.
I have some drinks from the late 60's till present day. I sure wouldn't drink one of those old ones! I tried a three or so year old Pepsi one time. Yuck!

I remember the Squirt and Dr. Pepper bottles. I recall there was a story behind the 10 2 4 on the label of the Dr. Pepper. Here it is:

"Dr Pepper at 10 2 and 4: The famous 10 2 and 4 logo and tagline stemmed from an actual scientific study of the 1920s which showed that the average person's blood sugar level was lowest at 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. thus drinking a Dr Pepper at 10, 2, and 4 helped to prevent a drop in energy."

My grandfather had an old soda machine in the barber shop he used to own that had just about all of these sodas in it. I still remember - you put the coin in, open the thin glass door and pull out the bottle. It was such a rickety device - rust spots on the side and everything.

I still remember the "environmentally unfriendly" pop tabs from soda cans too, that you would just toss out the window after opening your coke. :D

HH, I remember there was trick to getting free pop, remember Nehi (sp?) grape pop, we use to get some free...but for the life of me I can't recall the trick. Speaking of tricks, if you run out of time at a parking meter and have a soda can, remove the tab, grind it flat on the sidewalk just a bit (3 or 4 swipes) pop it in and it'll give you 20 minutes. DISCLAIMER: it is illegal to do this, don't try this as you will be breaking the law (there I've covered myself), it only works on mechanical time meters not the electric.

Chains of those were used as decoration when I was in middle school. By high school, they were gone.

The only "trick" to get free soda I remember was on the bottle machines where the bottles laid on their sides we would take an opener, pop off the top and hold a cup under the bottle. Leaving an empty bottle in the machine.

Yup :D then there was always a bit of pop left in the bottle so if you wanted it all a friend had to tip the machine to drain all the pop.

Man that sure was fun:D
