Any SVS ISD to NSD Driver Upgrades Done Yet?

I just placed my order for my 20-39 PCi ISD to NSD woofer upgrade and was curious if anyone else has ordered and replaced theirs yet. I'll post my feedback when I've gotten it, replaced it and done some subjective listening, but in the meantime, if anyone has some input on this, let's hear about it! :D -TD

Whoops..

Well, I'm not surprised I haven't seen any follow up posts on this. I got an e-mail from Erik @ SVS on Monday regarding my order. Apparently in my zeal for the NSD driver upgrade, I didn't notice it wasn't shipping just yet and ordered the standard ISD upgraded driver, which I already have... :eek:

Apparently they won't be available until sometime later this week, so I suppose this post might be a bit more relevant in a few weeks... :p -TD

Your advice needed

Well, I wanted to know whether it really, the cool or Hot thing to get the new woofer, does it make a huge difference, my budget is a little tight.,

I have the Pc Plus- 500 watt

I believe the PC plus driver is better than the ISD and most likely even the NSD.

I think what Htholic is asking is whether is will make a substantial difference upgrading his existing Plus driver. I would have to believe the newer Plus driver will be a solid improvement, but having no firsthand experience with it and knowing the performance of the existing (12.2?) driver, I'm not so sure it would be a huge difference.

Considering your budget is a bit tight at the time, I would hold off on the upgrade until you can swing it, check out some of the feedback from users who were able to take advantage of the upgrade after it's been released, then decide at that time... -TD

In The Words Of Aaahnold, "C'man, Do It!!"

Hi chas_w;
Forgot to come back and post my impressions...:eek:

Considering the total cost for the upgrade was less than $100, the SPL has increased from ~3-5db and it seems to be a bit tighter with music between 30-60Hz, I would most definitely have to say this upgrade was worth it in my 20-39PCi.

Even at the $130 price, I feel this is a worthwhile upgrade. I'm sure very few SVS owners of the 12" ISD drivers (if any) wouldn't notice a fairly substantial difference in performance. The upgrade itself is very simple, so unless you were overwhelmingly happy with your ISD driver or just couldn't swing the funds, I would wholeheartedly suggest the upgrade. And this is coming from someone that was completely satisfied w/their subs performance, however I do have trouble shaking that upgraditis at times... :D -TD

Thanks for the update TD. I have an ISD/2 so the cost to upgrade would be a bit more...have to give this some thought.

NP, chas. Understandably w/one of the dual driver subs, the cost is bit more of a consideration, in fact it's doubled... :)

With this in mind, I think you have to ask yourself if you're happy w/the current performance of your ISD/2. If the answer is a resounding yes, maybe an upgrade isn't what you're looking for. If you feel you could benefit from a bit more SPL and the tightness could be slightly better, the cost may possibly be justifiable... -TD
