lived in my house for 19yrs and finally got around to gutting and remodeling the basement which means new toys. Got a plasma going on the wall with behind the wall wiring to my reciever. I'm using various decora wall plate pass throughs behind the a/v cabinet and i don't mind how much room all the video and speaker connections take up but i don't want to use that size wall plates behind the speakers where i can see them more and i don't want to just come out of the wall with the wire. Are there smaller plate systems out there i haven't found yet? thanks for your help

Personally, I would just use the din plates because you already have the proper fitments for the sheetrock so that the sheetrock is properly supported where the cutout is, then use plates with binding posts. I just did this for my dad's new house.

For smaller, you could just use a hole plug or feed through grommet to clean up the look of the wire coming through the wall, but I don't think they actually make something specifically for what you are talking about so you might have to get creative.

Seriously, I have no life.
In theory, any gaps in and around a box on an outside wall should be sealed to prevent the vapor barrier from being breached. Houses breathe when the doors open and with temperature/barometric pressure fluctuations and when warm, moist air gets into wall cavities, condensation forms and some of the materials promote mold growth.

This sounds crazy to me. I suggest you just stick to the wall plates or higher a pro to do this.

I seriously doubt it but you could ask a local electronics store or perhaps Radio Shack?
