Any opinions on these in-ceiling speakers for home theater?

I'm getting an L,C, R, soundstage but can't do anything else because of house design. Was suggested these by Best Buy
to do in-ceiling atmos, sides, and rears. They are normally $899/pair but the Black Friday price is $299/pair. I thought it was a red flag that they've been out over a year and I couldn't find a single person who's done a review on them. Is this snake oil or should
I give em a try?

Doing ceiling Atmos speakers and in ceiling surrounds is a total mess and a complete waste of money.

You certainly could do ceiling surrounds, but it is questionable how much that will add. I would devote all of your speaker budget to the front three and call it a day.

I strongly advise against installing surround systems in unsuitable rooms. It is very unlikely to be of benefit.

As far as those speakers are concerned, I think you would likely be paying for a lot of blue sky, because it has Sonance stamped on the chassis.

At that price that leaves you $600.00 to upgrade the front three and that is a lot, especially if that is devoted to the center speaker, which is the most important of all for TV and movies etc.

TLS is right. You can’t reasonably do in ceiling sides, rears and Atmos. It’s not made to work that way. Whoever told you that should be fired. Or at least have a stern talkin to and some kind of training.

LCR at normal locations with IC surround isn’t horrible. But it’s not as good as proper placement, and all in ceiling would be a waste.

Btw, I wasn’t sure I read the op right. Is the LCR IC too?

SVS prime elevations have caught my eye and could be used if setup right in his situation .

No, the LCR is gonna be Prime Pinnacles and the Ultra center. Also two PB 2000 Pros.

From what you have described, a 3.2 solution is a very good option for that room.

My wife and I love our 3.1 room, and do most of our TV viewing in that room. It is a big open space and not at all suitable for surround sound, and gives a very good visual and audio experience. We love our theater also, but I could never ever part my wife from that 3.1 in wall system.
