Any opinions on JBL 312s and receiver suggestions?

I am brand new here, but am looking to purchase my first HT system. Since I heard them in the store I have really likd the JBL S312II speakers, and now they are very reasonable.

I was wondering what comments people have about them and a good 7.1 receiver to use along with these speakers? (Sub $400 receiver)

I am also thinking of using an EC35 for the center channel, as it matches the specs on the old S center and is reportably very good build quality.

Can't really comment on the S312II speakers, but I have the JBL S-CenterII and and happy with it; you can still get them on e-bay for around $200 and it will have the same mid-range and tweeter as your 312s. This will help ensure tonal consistency across your fronts. As far as rear speakers, JBL still sells the S36II (6" 3-ways) speakers which are wall mountable (have seen these as cheap as $220/pr delivered NIB on e-bay) which again will have the same midrange and tweeter as your 312s. Otherwise, if you have the room, the JBL S-38II (8" 3-ways) speakers would also be great as your rears (again same mid/tweet). You can also find these on e-bay and sometimes at www.harmanaudio.com.
