I just read a review on the Bic American Formula F-12. It sounds good but the prices seem to cheap. Anyone have and experience with them and how do they compare to the Elemental designs 250 or Emotiva Ultra 12.

I was considering a BIC but there were just too many posts saying that I would be disappointed by how in-musical and boomy it was. Decided to go for an Emotiva Ultra 12 instead of dual BICs.

Well it was highly recommended in the AVS forums. That was years back. But what can you expect from a 7 yr old sub. They're quite bulky and boomy but without a punch so to speak.

It's still recommended a lot these days from posts I've seen. Bulky? Isn't that most subs are. If they are small, probably doesn't sound good unless something like expensive jl audio f113 or something, or will have small output. Boomy? Maybe, but I don't have personal experience with the bic f12 so I wouldn't know.

Do you have personal experience with the f12?

I recently bought a cheap BIC PL-200 12" powered sub for $279.

It's in my family room(18' x 20' x 10' ceiling, open 3 sides) with the Infinity P362s.

The PL200 sounds very good. I recommend it.

My dreams for the SVS PC-13 Ultra are in a very deep sleep right now so in the interim I'd like to pull the trigger on one of these.

Was that BIC on sale somewhere? I see that Amazon has it for $328 currently.

Just found out that if you do the "Make Offer" on the AcousticSoundDesign eBay site you can get the BIC PL-200 sub for $279 + free shipping. I saw "29 others have offer bids in on this unit too". I have a PayPal receipt so hopefully demand won't be a problem and they'll actually ship it out by month end.

Woo hoo! AcousticSoundDesigns are on the ball. They sent me a tracking number for my order a few hours after they accepted my bid.

The PL200 is a nice subwoofer.

Best bang for the buck subwoofer EVER @ $279 each.:D

If I were on a tight, tight budget, I would get the Infinity P163 bookshelf for $85ea x 5 + a PL200 sub. Best bang for the buck combo.

Someone needs to do some measurements/review of the BIC PL200, though.

Soundstage reviewed/measured the Infinity P162.
