My first outing to audition speakers didn't go so well. All I really wanted to listen to were the AAD Vi630 series towers. Any one have opinions on these? I myself wasn't super impressed. One thing I liked is that they were 6ohm which will work well with my AVR 2106. The freq response wasn't that great either according to their literature it is 30 Hz - 30 KHz.

The detail was alright though transparency was lacking. I didn't give them that long of a listen though because I wasn't blown away in the first min.

Any opinions or comparable speakers.

Not only have I not heard them, I have not even heard of them (and I have been in the audio hobby for over 30 years!)

Yeah I have been in and out for most of my life.

These are new they are by Phil Jones. From what I was told he use to be with Boston Acoustics. Not a big Boston fan myself though. The actual name of the company is American Acoustic Developement. I heard them at Ultimate Electronics, mainly there to check out a new tv. The other speakers they had sucked.

Since you weren't satisfied with the aad what is you budget and do you want towers or bookshelves? How big is your room and do you want a sub?

My room is basically 14 X 15 though it is open to the back with a dining room and to the right with a foyer. Yes I will be getting a sub, SVS to be precise. That is one thing I'm sure of so far. Oh and towers over bookshelves.

I will be listening to music 90%. Though with the addition of subs and rear channel and excellent sound movies may take a higher precedence. I don't watch TV much at all the news and adult cartoons, The Simpson's, Family Guy, South Park, American Dad.

Thanks Dono

The best low price speakers that I have ever heard is the Danish system audio range of speakers, incredibly musical, very dynamic and nice, unreal performance at the price tag.....

They are also available in Canada and US, at least there are distributors
Perhaps price tag is not so appealing overseas, but still.......

These are simply incredible speakers....

simply.... A "must" to check out
(They also make expensive and very expensive speakers)

My budget is around $2000 for towers. Not too sure about SVS Speakers. I know I said I will be getting a SVS sub, but they are sub makers from what I know. The make bad *** subs I think they should keep it at that.

I will look into what you stated Heraldo. Those damn European speakers are the best. Hell probably way more than half of the American made speakers have Seas, Vifa, Scanspeak or something similar in them. I have Vifa tweets in my truck.

It looks like System Audio uses a lot of Peerless drivers for the bass/midrange, well it looks like quality stuff all way through.... Danish speakers are :D:D

I knew I'd heard of AAD. They had a review and were on the cover of Strereophile in July of 2007. I also saw, and briefly heard the same AAD reference monitors at Holm Audio in Woodridge, IL. They were excellent as far as bq and sq. But not cheap at like $1800.......
