Any news on Onkyo's 2008 line-up?

We've heard great things from Yamaha and Pioneer for very acceptable mid-range solutions, but not a peep from Onkyo. Has anyone heard anything? Does anyone know when Onkyo plans to make an announcement or show off their new receivers for this year? I recall last year we had already heard a lot about the XX5 series at this point.

Perhaps they have been too busy refurbishing their 605/705/805 receivers to have time to do anything else. Seriously, I would be interested in the replacements of their current receivers. Hopefully, they have learned from their mistakes and built the fixes into their next generation of receivers. There is some thing I would ask of all receiver manufacturers. We don't want or need 5 composite, 6 S and 3 component video inputs any more. What we need is a minimum of 3 HDMI inputs.

I'm confused. Are you interested in their 2008 lineup or simply replacements for some of their overheating 2007 designs?

I still think we need plenty of component inputs. They are still very widely used in all sorts of equipment. I do agree, however, that we need way less composite and S-video inputs. Some more HDMI inputs would be nice too.

I'm definitely interested in the xx6 series and hope we hear something soon.

Somebody at the other forum posted a link for a 503 or something like that. This thing has 3 HDMI inputs and sells for $300. If successors for the 605/705/805 were available right now, they would be my favorites over the others. Why? Onkyo should have the most experience with implementing HDMI technology in low-end receivers by now. Their receivers are well-priced and loaded with features. I am, of course, assuming whatever they come up with this time will be better and more reliable than their current lineup.

I've always liked Onkyo's sound quality. If they can get the heat issues down and fix the reliability of their receivers, then I'd consider them as a pre-pro.
