Any LCD TV recommendations?

Okay I think it's about time for me to update my TV as I currently have a 20 inch 15 year old TV sitting in my bedroom right now. I also noticed on my old TV that the picture is starting to stretch out vertically, when I try to change the volume the volume level display gets cut off at the bottom. I don't think my tv will last me much longer. I was wondering if anybody could recommend any LCD TVs in the 26' to 32' range for around $1000ish. The only use that the TV will get will be from watching DVDs as I am currently putting together a HT system in my bedroom. I am also planning to buy an Oppo 981HD as well. So the most important thing about the tv will be the picture quality, I don't care about speakers as I wont be using them. So which brands should I start looking into and which models? If anybody can give me any suggestions are starting points I would really appreciate it. Also what about projectors?

I bought the 23" Samsung LN-S2352W LCD in white for my office I paid 860.00,I highly recommend this tv. Picture quality is superb, the blacks in particular are deep and true. The colors pop out, I'm extremely happy with it. It has 1 hdmi input, PC input, game mode and it's HD ready. Besides all this, its glossy white, looks like an Apple product.:D

I've been having bad experiences with the Vizio lcd's. At this point I'd recomend avoiding them. I'm on my third screen in the last few months and am having more issues, meaning I'll have my fourth tv before long. For reference my experiences are with the VX37L 37" and the GV42L 42" Vizio lcd's.

The Olevia lcd's are highly recommended around here at their price point, but I have not been able to view the models I'm interested in in person yet. So I can't offer my opinion on them. The Sharp Aquos lcd's that I've seen have very nice pictures as do the Sony Bravia's, but I'm not sure of the pricing on them. You may want to look at them and see what you think.

I've had a horrid experience (which I posted here before) with the DELL/Olevia 30" lcd---stay away.

I've seen other posts (positives) about Olevias. I'm too burned by DELL to recommend it. So far I'm super happy with the Samsung I got. Overall, it does everything quite nicely.:)

Micro center has the Sceptre Komodo 32" for $600. I like it. Costo has a coupon book for $75 off a 23" Samsung. I don't know the price or model number.

On the plus side of the Vizio tv's, they scheduled an in home repair of my set for a few weeks from now. Meaning I can show their outsourced tech guy exactly what issues I have with specific inputs and possibly get everything calibrated to work very nicely.

Unfortuneately, though their customer service seems to be excellent, I've still gotten three out of three bad tv's out of the box. That doesn't say much for quality to me. Great customer service doesn't mean a great quality product overall.

YMMV

Okay I am currently debating between the 23" Samsung or the 26" Samsung. I'll proably go with the 23" as it is about $300 cheaper, but I'll have to go take a look at both of them. I do like the fact that the 26" has to HDMI inputs however. Thank you for all your help.

I bought an Olevia 542i LCD on black friday and am happy with it so far. Great picture quality...only one hdmi input, but I bought and inexpensive splitter.

I got the 32" Sceptre when it was $600 at Costco. It is a great set for the money, but it can't match the PQ and contrast of a Samsung LCD that costs twice as much. You should be able to get a 32" or 26" samsung in your $1k budget from online dealers.
