I have one set up in a very large room with an opening onto a larger room. For my taste it has enough output, but I'm not that big an bass volume. Sound wise I find it to be acceptable... but not terribly good. It doesn't dig terribly deep, rolling off somewhere around 35hz, and fairly steeply by 30. To its credit I do not find it to be very boomy as long as you keep it away from corners. For music I don't feel that it is a detriment, often blending very acceptably with the stereos, but it produces far from the most detail I've heard from a sub. For movies it doesn't quite provide the punch I'd like.
Overall I am not unhappy with it, but I wouldn't really say to go out and get one. On a side note I find that it sounds way better when you use a y-splitter on the input rather than a single RCA, with the difference being far more than simply the sensitivity increase.
Hope my jumbled thoughts help!
