Sony has this new ES receiver out that incorporates some real Genesis video processing hardware. At $1500 MSRP, this looks like an interesting unit, with the possibility of providing some real video processing as opposed to generic cheapo deinterlacing/scaling.

Anyone know anything about how good the deinterlacing performance is of the STR-DA5200ES? If this was implemented well it could be interesting.

It's on the cover of my new S&V mag and is reviewed. I skipped the article/review. It's being tagged "The New Boss" as printed on the cover under it's large picture. You may be able to read review at their site. Last and only Sony I owned was when I purchased my first cd player(with cd's in the plastic longbox which I still own) a cdp501es back in '83.

Heh I just downloaded that issue! The review gave a thumbs up to the deinterlacing performance, but it was mostly qualititaive evaluations. They did mention how it improved SD satellite signals, which happens to be my main interests. The review said that this receiver is the most video oriented receiver yet.
