Any difference between a regular IC and a digital IC?

Reason I ask is it seems I read that it was more important to make sure a digital IC had true 75 ohm rca's. Any truth to this? Thanks

Impedence is a cable measurement. RCA types are not an issue. :cool:

If you're running an interconnect for an SP/DIF connection (co-axial digital, it's sometimes called), I would make sure the entire cable (jacks and all) was rated for 75 ohm. :)

Shielded cable is coaxial. Standard CATV cable is 75 ohm coax. Generally, any shielded cable (most interconnect) is coax. I heard somewhere that using 50 ohm coax can show subtle sonic differences :eek: Has anyone ever investigated? :rolleyes:

Yes, I would say it's true. It's important to make a 75-ohm cable with the proper coax AND terminations. A company like Blue Jeans uses 75-ohm coax from Canare and Belden and also uses high-quality 75-ohm Canare RCA plugs. Unfortunately, RCAs really aren't the best for this application. They were never designed for it. If you have the option, using BNC connectors, an interface that was designed specifically for the 75-ohm spec (like F-Type connectors) is a better choice. Of course, this isn't always an option, in which case you should just try to get the best 75-ohm RCAs you can (within reason).
