Yes, I would say it's true. It's important to make a 75-ohm cable with the proper coax AND terminations. A company like Blue Jeans uses 75-ohm coax from Canare and Belden and also uses high-quality 75-ohm Canare RCA plugs. Unfortunately, RCAs really aren't the best for this application. They were never designed for it. If you have the option, using BNC connectors, an interface that was designed specifically for the 75-ohm spec (like F-Type connectors) is a better choice. Of course, this isn't always an option, in which case you should just try to get the best 75-ohm RCAs you can (within reason).
