I've been an AK member for nine years, was away for some months pursuing non-audio interests online, but was pretty active for much of the time. My handle here is the same there, and on other sites. I resumed activity there about ten days ago. But I noticed some MIAs. A couple days ago, the site began having technical difficulties - it is almost impossible to post anything. General Audio Discussion has shown the same screen now for a couple days - it's like a ghost town.

So I'm wondering where everybody went, and have joined a few sites trying to find some of my acquaintances. I have no beef with AK, never had much interaction with staff, preferring to avoid politics. Music and gear discussion being my interest. So, anybody here know me?

They appear to be having problems. Many of the forum areas show no updates since Thursday (2016-05-12), which is a red flag, given the huge number of users. The number of new posts also seems unusually low.

They updated their software a few months ago, and pretty much everything has been running smoothly. I think this is a temporary issue. Keeping a forum that immense up and running is a lot of work.

Been there. Done that.

I got tired of the same repetitive questions, many apparently intentionally intended to start a war*. Many newbies and, surprisingly, regulars would routinely engage in mutual masturbation in these. Many dragged on for pages and pages with nothing being said.

At one point. I made it clear that thats what it was. I was banned.

It's a great source of info on vintage equipment but, heaven forbid one question whatever opinion they have as factual whatever anyone says, no matter how outlandish it might be,

It's not like that here. Different opinions are welcome but one will be called out if something smells fishy.

* like "Why bi-wiring might work" or another "Which speaker cable is better"
