Any <200 DVD's have Denon Link? (Or will there be shortly)

Question says it all.

I am looking to buy a new receiver, and leaning toward a Denon, and like the "Denon Link" feature, but I'm not paying 500-1000 for a DVD player.

So, given that, should I make a buying decision on the Denon link?

Are there, or will there be relatively inexpensive denon link DVD players out anytime soon.

I don't really mind 6 analog cables . . . .

I assume you already have a Denon receiver with Denon link. Since it's a propriatary interface you'll have no choice but to purchase a Denon player. At present, only the 5900 ($2K) has the D-link. The forthcoming 2910 and 3910 are supposed to come with it but may be above your price point.

No, I do not have a Denon Receiver yet. I have a 5 year old Pioneer Elite VSX-14. I have a friend that wants to buy it, and I want to upgrade.

Looking to upgrade it for either the Denon AVR-3805 or the Onkyo TX-SR701. While they are both nice, I like the Denon better, but my budget likes the Onkyo better.

I heard that DVD-A and SACD both approved FireWire as a link standard. Wonder if the Onkyo will add the Firewire to the 701 any time soon?

then again, what is wrong with using 6 analog cables?

I hope the future is one where all components will have digital links, but in the case of the Denons I don't think it's a huge deal yet. I have a DVD-2200 & a '3802, and I imagine the DACs in the player are at least as good as those in the receiver. In some cases, depending on your gear, the DACs in the player might be better. Sure, a Firewire or D-link would be nice, but I can live with 6 extra cables for now.

That's what I have been thinking this weekend.

And so what, if in the next year or two they come out with a FireWire receiver and a relatively inexpensive DVD player that had both DVD-A and SACD.

I would still be able to enjoy SACD and DVD-A.

Thanks.
